Birch Aquarium: Beach Teach

See more than 5,000 fish in 60+ habitats plus a museum featuring cutting edge research from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. Take in spectacular panoramic ocean views, get hands on with interactive activities, see a feeding, and dive deeper into the world under, in, and above the oceans.

Beach Teach: Beach Investigations
Meet at Kellogg Park at La Jolla Shores Beach, 8300 CAMINO DEL ORO, LA JOLLA, CA 92037
Two-hour exploration with Birch Aquarium educators on the beach at the Matlahuayl State Marine Reserve (La Jolla Shores). Visit and explore a Marine Protected Area. Students discover the secrets of a sandy beach habitat to learn more about seaweed, sand, local animals and their adaptations.

Tentative schedule:
9:00 am Check in with attending EC at Kellogg Park at the La Jolla Shores Beach
9:30-11:30 am at the beach
11:30-12:30 lunch on own at the beach or aquarium
12:30-5:30 at the aquarium for self-guided tour.

Parking: FREE @ the beach and at the aquarium for up to 3 hours.

Food: Pack your own snacks and lunch for the day. You can eat lunch in-between the Beach Teach and the self-guided tour of the Aquarium.

If you are using Valiant funds please select the FREE ticket and place your order in VOS within 48 hours.

Ticket orders must be placed in Brown Paper Tickets before placing the request in VOS. A confirmation number is needed in the VOS order description.
