More info about the specific workshops will come soon... in general...
...Friday's and Saturday's workshops are suitable for beginners. They are designed to facilitate participants into a state of readiness for Contact Improvisation (CI). Each individual workshop explores a different aspect within the dance, working with physical dynamics, embodiment principles and subtle engagements. They progress through a series of solo, partner and group exercises, and include a guided warming up, somatic movement development, collaborative improvisation scores and experiential learning of fundamental structures, skills, techniques and pathways used within CI.
Each of these workshops will lead into a Jam, which is a chance to explore the practice. A Jam is a self-regulated dance practice space, with an emphasis around CI, where possibilities of soloing, partner dances, group ensembles, witnessing, writing and drawing are all welcome.
Sunday's workshops are not suitable for beginners, they are for those who have attended previous sessions over the weekend or for those with experience of CI. They will have very little teaching and will use CI as a medium within a therapeutic approach to dance and an Underscore.
CI involves sharing weight and lots of dynamic movements ranging anywhere between lifting and flying to rolling and sliding across the floor, please let us know before attending if you have any physical concern.

Drawing & Mark Making Space... Yonat Nitzan-Green is an artist-researcher based in Winchester. Her art practice includes performative acts, painting, installation and drawing. She'll be bringing simple drawing tools such as pencils, charcoal and colour markers to the dance space and make small drawings. Drawing enables an introspective, active looking-witnessing. For the duration of the Jam, a table will be set up and covered with paper. Participants are invited to come at any time and make marks.
Community... in the spirit of togetherness and to help keep the costs low we are asking everyone to get involved by giving some of their time and love to help with preparing the meals, washing up or cleaning the space. We have four great chefs who will need your help and support... if everyone helps once or twice we will easily have enough hands.
Bodywork space... big chunky school crash mats, that are great for giving and receiving bodywork as well as jumping on.
Sharing & support space... a quiet space to give and receive support to one another... a listening ear is often all that is needed...
Chill-out area... we have plenty of space to hang out with tables, chairs and cushions right outside the studio and access to a full kitchen.
Green spaces & woodlands... the school is surrounded by nature with plenty of green spaces and woodland to explore.
Delicious home-made vegetarian food... we are buying as much fresh, organic and locally produced veggies as possible... cooked by four wonderful dancers and chefs... they'll need your help and lots of hugs...
Photography... Hugh Greasley will be taking a few snaps and videos of the event to record some of the wonderful moments... we may use a few for promotion but only the good ones...
