2013 FREE Tug Pegasus Round Trip
This is a 60-minute, round-trip cruise on the Tug Pegasus from Pier 25 in Manhattan (West Side Highway and North Moore Street). Visit their website for more information. There will not be a narrator on this cruise, just a great chance to catch a beautiful ride.
The 1907-built Tug Pegasus is a maritime icon whose very existence tells an important story about the history of the Port of New York/New Jersey. Join us as we interpret the world around the Tug Pegasus, teaching visitors about the harbor's value as a rich natural habitat, as a historic waterway that shaped this city's history, and as a thriving commercial port crucial to today's economy. This tug's activity in both World Wars and her survival of technological changes, from steam to diesel propulsion and from riveted to welded construction, make her a unique vessel.
