Spontaneous Storytelling San Francisco
Do you have funny or amazing stories from your life? Do you enjoy true storytelling along the lines of The Moth? Are you wanting to have more connection and affection in your life? This event is for you. Spontaneous Storytelling is a different kind of storytelling show that combines the fun of meeting new people with hearing and telling true stories.
How it works: The event starts with a fun icebreaker game, then we select themes, then we take turns telling stories until we run out of time.
When you come in, grab a game card and a pen. The object of the game is to meet as many people as possible and learn something interesting about them as you go. They'll ask you questions, too! Everyone there is playing.
Write down the answers on the card. Later, the host will read out loud some of the funny things people come up with. It's anonymous, so feel free to be outrageously truthful.
After about a half hour of mingling, it's time for true storytelling. First the host will ask the audience for themes. Shout 'em out and we'll write them on the board.
Next, put your name in the hat if you want to tell a true, five-minute story on any of the themes. It's called Spontaneous Storytelling because we don't practice beforehand!
The Rules: no reading or notes allowed; stories must be true, about you, and five minutes or less. We'll have a volunteer timer to help you stick to the time limit.
Four lucky storytellers will win free drink tickets just for telling a story. It doesn't even have to be a good story! But it has to be true and about you. Playing the icebreaker game is optional. Telling a true story on stage is optional. Having fun is not optional!!
