Machine learning is now a household buzz word, but what is it, and why all the buzz? And what is its relationship to data science?
AWIS Palo Alto chapter invites you to a wonderful evening of learning the basic tools of machine learning and how they can be useful to determine biological outcomes and advance personalized medicine.
**No previous knowledge in the field is required**
Dr. Karen Sachs completed her Ph.D. at MIT Bioengineering where she pioneered the use of single-cell data for causal modeling of molecular networks. She completed her postdoc at Stanford where she continued to use her expertise to develop models for drug response analysis and improved dimensionality of single-cell proteomics data. Dr. Sachs went on to found a computational biology consulting firm - Next Generation Analytics - with projects in a variety of impact areas in academia and industry. She also serves as Chief Data Scientist at Answer ALS, where she focuses on omics data integration, in an effort to decipher the pathophysiology of ALS. She has been using and developing tools in machine learning and data science for more than 10 years.
