Cupid's Corner: A Staged Reading
Play Synopsis:
Cupids Corner follows four undergrads who navigate a new dating phenomenon that translates digitally curated preference into manufactured experience. Cupids Corners are fast food-esque establishments. The franchise has swept the United States. First there was McDonalds, then Starbucks, and now its Cupids Corner - as ubiquitous as the brand name implies. Anyone can walk in and custom order their ideal date." The initial thrill and freedom to choose is scintillating, but Cupids Corner quickly forces the characters to ask themselves previously unimaginable and additionally disorienting questions. As Sadie wonders, is consent even a thing if the date has no programmed ability to say no?
This is a free event but we will provide the option to give a donation. 100% of the proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood.
We hope you'll come support new theatre, a good cause and maybe even talk about sex a little bit.
