RISE to Black; Featuring Great Scenes for Black Theater
The new performance series, Rise To Black, starts in February, featuring great scenes from the stages of some of the most memorable Black Theater. Since its founding in 2000 Mixed Magic Theatre has presented a wide range of some of Black theatre's greatest plays, in addition to creating celebrated iconic black figures in some of the company's original works.
For one day in February Mixed Magic Theatre will present scenes from some of the most exciting of these plays including August Wilson's celebrated Fences, Ntozake Shange's ,For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuff , and Douglas Turner Ward's , Day of Absence and more. Some of the performances will be presented by the actors from the original Mixed Magic productions. This series will continue to highlight and celebrate a select and very exciting repertoire of plays from the works of Black theater artists.
