Tuesdays in the Newsroom: The Marvels of Muskeget Island
Tiny Muskeget Island is little more than a pancake of land between Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard but its small size belies its ecological significance. It is at once the largest breeding ground for gray seals in the country and home to its own species of brown vole. Crocker Snow Jr., who co-owns the 250-acre island with the town of Nantucket, will talk about this little-known neighboring island, its human and natural history, when Tuesdays in the Newsroom returns in March.

Mr. Snow, a journalist and former director of the Edward R. Murrow School of Public Diplomacy at Tufts, has been exploring, researching and writing about the island since childhood. His father, an aviation pioneer, bought the island, once an elite duck hunting refuge, in 1949.

Tuesdays in the Newsroom is a monthly speaker series sponsored by the Vineyard Gazette in the off-season. Admission is free to subscribers of the Vineyard Gazette; non-subscribers pay $10 at the door. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.

Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for a brief reception prior to the program, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
