AFP Luncheon, January 2019
Early in his career, Monroe Free, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, asked one of his board members who at the time was the President of a university, What do you feel your role is as the President of the university? The board member said, First, I am the visionary; secondly, I make sure the university has the resources to get us where we want to go; and thirdly, I am the universitys number one cheerleader.

If you are a development professional, you have probably either asked or wanted to ask your Executive Director this same question. If you are an Executive Director, you may be seeking the answer also.

Please join us on February 21, to hear Monroe share how he has used these three principles to determine his role in the fundraising efforts of an organization and become a successful executive director and nonprofit leader.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
To say that Monroe Free felt a calling to help those who are socially and economically disenfranchised would be a severe understatement. Many of his waking hours, and indeed his entire career, have been devoted to improving the lives and futures of those who need a helping hand.  From running Knox Area Rescue Ministries and the Christian Community Foundation in Knoxville, TN, and as CMO of Christian Blind Mission US to founding of the Monroe Free Group, a consulting firm for non-profits, Monroe has a depth of experience and caring conscience thats second to none.

Monroe has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles including Chairman of the Knox County Homeless Coalition as well as Chairman of the Knox County Family Violence Commission, Chairman of the Board of SC Association at Habitat Affiliates and is a TogetherSC Board member. Now, as the CEO and President of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, Monroe will continue to lead this critically important organization as it implements policies designed to positively change lives and the landscape of this fast-growing and burgeoning part of the country.

Monroe is married to Kim and together they have three children.
