Lafayette Police Spring 2019 Citizen's Academy
The Lafayette Police Department is now offering registration for our upcoming Spring 2019 Citizens Academy. Our academy is an eight-week educational outreach program designed to provide citizens a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their police department and of the role that law enforcement plays within the criminal justice system.
The Citizen's Academy meets one evening per week (Wednesdays) for 8 weeks, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM (April 03 - May 22). These classroom sessions will be held at Lafayette City Council Chambers at 20 N 6th Street.
In addition to the classroom sessions, attendees are encouraged to participate in "ride-alongs" with our patrol officers, allowing for a real-life perspective on contemporary policing.
The class is free. 18 and older please. Does require a criminal background check and fingerprinting - completed by LPD
Lt. Brian Phillips
