Join documentarian Daniel Pierce Bergin in a Fireside Chat celebrating Black History Month. Dan will screen and narrate video vignettes that are part of the series: On This Spot: Southside Stories, highlighting the under-appreciated strength and contributions of the Southsides African-American community. Stories include a look at Hosmer Librarys role in the community, the symbolism and the changing form and function of Martin Luther King Jr. Park, and recognizing not one, but two, pioneering African-American female judges- Judge Pamela Alexander and Judge LeJune Lange.
Daniel Pierce Bergin is a film maker and documentarian in the Twin Cities. You have probably seen his work on Twin Cities Public Television, where he is a Senior Producer of the TPT history series Minnesota Experience. Productions include the regional Emmy-award winning North Star: Minnesotas Black Pioneers, Cass Gilbert: Standing the Test of Time, Flour Power, Out North: Minnesotas MNLGBTQ History and MN Originals.
Visiting the museum at this time does require the use of stairs.
