| | EventIt Can't Happen HereNoted  American author Sinclair Lewis wrote the novel,  "It Can't Happen Here," at his Barnard, Vermont home in 1935.  Richard Wizansky & Todd Mandell direct this staged reading,  using the recent stage adaptation by Tony Taccone & Bennett S. Cohen.
The play is set in a fictional Vermont town.  Against the backdrop of the rise of fascism in Europe,   a demagogue is elected President of the United States after fomenting fear and promising drastic economic and social reforms while promoting a return to patriotism and "traditional" values.
