Beginner's Improv: Emotion
The Nursery offer a broad-based training that approaches improv in four different ways in the four different core modules. These six-week courses and weekend intensives concentrate on spontaneity, emotion, character and storytelling. You can take anyone alone, pick your way through them, or do all four back to back for a comprehensive grounding in the core skills of improv.
This course takes place over 6 Wednesdays from 7pm-9.30pm
Are you shy and reserved, reluctant to share what you think or intimidated by big groups of people? Are you the wallflower? Does expressing emotion in front of others scare you? Come learn to express, channel and use your emotions through improvisation. Emotions are not the wild, uncontrolled mess we sometimes think, but a powerful way to understand each other and the world, filtering valuable information from your unconscious mind, connecting you with other people and even, in improvisation, making them laugh.
In this module, you will become more familiar with the rhythms, physicality and expectations of the different emotions, how they can be positive or negative and how they can be used to power scenes that are as funny as they are human.
