HOW TO FALL is an acrobatic research laboratory initiated in January 2013 by Cohdi Harrell (New Mexico). Using trapeze, dance, the floor and each other, we work to create a language of movement based on principles of equilibrium on the trapeze and on one another; the transference of human weight from one unstable object onto another, and the continuation of momentum from the air to the floor and vice versa. Creating a process of disassociating the action of the body from the attention of the conscious mind, we challenge the body-mind to simultaneously articulate the necessity of function and the emotional response to personal history.
