Tina Payne Bryson: The Yes Brain
When facing challenges, unpleasant tasks, and contentious issues, kids often act out or shut down, responding with reactivity instead of receptivity. This is a No Brain response. But our kids can be taught to approach life with openness and curiosity. Parents can foster the ability to say yes to the world and welcome all that life has to offer, even during difficult times. This is what it means to cultivate a Yes Brain, and it leads to the characteristics we want to nurture in them: emotional regulation, resilience, personal insight, and empathy. In this presentation, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson discusses ways to encourage in our kids this positive, engaged approach to life. Using her trademark warmth and humor, she will discuss specific strategies for creating Yes Brain opportunities that allow your kids to thrive, both now and as they grow into adulthood.
"In today's busy, competitive culture, allowing our children the space to be themselves is more important than ever. This book provides an escape hatch from the high-stakes mindset. It's a parents guide to ensuring health, happiness, and genuine success, a blueprint for raising confident, creative kids in a fear-based world. It's never too late to implement the science based strategies that Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson share." -Vicki Abeles, producer and co-director, The Race to Nowhere and Beyond Measure
