Tales of the Forgotten North: From Iron Age to Iron Horse
The village of Elsdon holds many mysteries. Could it be that the clues to those secrets are there to be found  if we look closely enough?

Journey into the past with Storyteller Pascale Konyn as she tells a wonder tale of Elsdon and it's transformations, that take us from the Iron Age through Medieval times to the Nineteenth Century and the present day. Archaeologist Paul Frodsham will share some of the knowledge that has been revealed by findings from ancient times.

Join us at Tarset Village Hall for the unveiling of the Story Banners made by Year 3 at Greenhaugh School, telling the stories inspired by their visit to Elsdon Village including the Motte and Bailey Castle.

Storyteller Malcolm Green will compete the evening and maybe even tell a story or two.

Online ticket sales will close midnight the night before the performance. Any remaining tickets will be available from 6.30pm at Tarset Village Hall.

A Bit Crack storytellers have embarked on an epic journey through Northumberland and the North Pennines, discovering Tales of the Forgotten North. Over the next two years Malcolm, Pascale, Pat and Chris will be creating stories from archaeological sites in the depths of North-East England with archaeologists Paul Frodsham and Jessica Turner.

Stories dreamt from the land will be created together with school children local to the archaeological sites. They will venture out into the wilds, seek treasure, stir their imaginations, map the ancient worlds, create artworks and their own original stories. Creating fiction from evidence given us by the rocks and stones and lumps and bumps in the ground. Making visible the invisible.

This performance forms part of our land journey a pilgrimage passing through these archaeological sites, where we will stop and share tales and meals together, sleep under the stars and dream the land.
