ARC DANCE OPENS 14TH PERFORMANCE SEASON WITH "SUMMER DANCE AT THE CENTER"
ARC Dance returns to the Leo K. Theatre at Seattle Center with a review program Thursday through Friday, July 18-20
Seattle, WA: ARC Dance Company opens July18 for a three-evening program at Seattle Center's Leo Kreielsheimer Theatre. This summer's program offers a selection of impactful works from the past five years of ARC's wide-ranging, contemporary ballet repertoire. Dances by Marie Chong, Betsy Cooper, Penny Hutchinson, and others are performed by a group of ten professional dancers.
Also on the bill are two works performed by the newly-formed Arc Youth Dance Company. This ensemble of 16 talented students from Arc School of Ballet, ages 11-19 years old, are making their stage debut on this shared program with ARC Dance Company.
The resumption of ARC's annual Summer Dance at the Center program has been in the works since artistic director Marie Chong returned from a year of directing with Cirque du Soleil. ARC celebrates her homecoming to the company she founded in 1999 by restaging some of the ARC repertoire she was instrumental in creating, either through her own creative process or through the collaborations she fostered with other artists.
ARC specializes in mixing things up. Since 1999, ARC Dance Company has become known for producing a wide variety of dance programing by different choreographers. Chong is determined to offer accessible and evocative programs in the tradition of a true repertory dance company.
