"Theater Games" presented by Bare Bones Theater Company
"Theater Games" is a two-act play about a high school drama teacher who blurs the line between illusion and reality, with devastating effect on his career, his marriage, and his students. The play, aimed at adults and teenagers, features young actors and a rock-and-roll score.
Theater Games is directed by Jeff Bennett, founder of Bare Bones Theater. The play was inspired by an acting exercise that Jeff had included in his textbook for drama teachers ("Secondary Stages", Heineman 2001): when the publisher cut the chapter describing that deception-based exercise, the seeds were planted for Theater Games.
Playwright Claude Solnik learned of the deleted chapter and was inspired to write a play based on what might have happened should such a dangerous exercise go awry. The result is "Theater Games".
