WAFLT Regional #1 2019 - Kent Meridian
Our first regional event of 2019 will take place at Kent-Meridian High School Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 9am-4pm. From 9-noon, we will host a workshop by Ben Fisher (see below), and in the afternoon we are seeking 30-minute proposals for sessions that would be applicable to all languages.
8:30-9: check in, breakfast (included)
9am-noon: Providing Engaging Comprehensible Input to Novices and Intermediates, by Ben Fisher
In this workshop, participants will learn how to build learner language proficiency by providing compelling comprehensible input to Novice and Intermediate learners. Participants will learn how to move towards ACTFL's goal of 90% target language usage across all class levels by using their voice and body skills to scaffold for comprehensibility. A set of adaptable core activities will be presented and practiced to help participants keep the comprehensible input flowing as teachers meet curriculum requirements and build student confidence in a fun, engaging way.
Noon-1: Lunch (on your own)
1pm-4pm: 30-minute breakout sessions
4pm: clock hours (included in registration) and evaluations
