The 13th annual Shakespeare in the Park presents The Merry Wives of Windsor on its outdoor stage in Royal Oak's Starr Jaycee Park.
Bawdy and hilarious, The Merry Wives of Windsor weaves a tangled tease around Shakespeare's famous clown, Falstaff! Catch this refreshing take on the classic comedy directed by Water Works' veteran Paul Hopper, starring Water Works favorite, Sara Catherine Wolf, and introducing Richard Redman as the fumbling Falstaff.
Shakespeare In ihe Park is Michigan's biggest and best professional outdoor theatre event. Seating is general admission. Bring a blanket to sit close to the stage, a low-to-the-ground lawn chair or beach chair for mid-lawn seating, or a tall lawn chair for rear lawn seating. Bleacher seating is available behind the lawn chair area. Tickets are good for ONE admission to ANY performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Starr Jaycee Park is a 28-acre public park with play structures, a disk golf course, mini-train tracks, ball diamonds and lots of old growth trees.
For two weeks this summer, the park will also be home to a barrier-free, open-air theatre custom built by Water Works Theatre Company. We make sure that people who come to enjoy the park can have unrestricted access to the facilities, even if they are not attending our shows. However, we do close the child play structures and disk golf holes 9 and 18 during our performances.
Our Shakespeare show lasts about two and a half hours with an intermission. It's Michigan, so we suggest you dress for the weather to change, just in case.
You can't bring your own, but we are pleased to offer beer and wine for sale during Merry Wives performances. Proper ID required. Convenient parking is available at or adjacent to Starr Jaycee Park.
Our weather policy is like a baseball game - we stop if it rains too much. Rain checks will be made available at the park, except for closing night.
