The New York Songwriter's Circle Holiday Show
Join us Monday, December 10th for one of our most signature events! If you're looking to spend an evening cuddling up to some of the most well crafted holidays songs on the planet (sung by the best talent NYC has to offer) look no further! We have an incredible line up full of special guests to serenade you.

Tina Shafer
Singer Songwriter/vocal coach Tina Shafer, started hosting and booking the New York Songwriters Circle in 1991. Held at the legendary Bitter End in NYC. At first Tina called upon some of her writing friends to do shows in the round.
George David Weiss, Steven Dorff, Albert Hammond, Chuck Taylor, Siedah Garrett (Michael Jackson), Gary Burr, Hugh Prestwood, Big and Rich,Lana Del Rey, Gavin DeGrawlater she decided to incorporate young talent as well.
Tina is also a seasoned performer having opened to Suzanne Vega, sung with Phoebe Snow, John Oates, Marc Cohn, Gary Burr and Gavin DeGraw to name a few.

Rob Mathes
Rob Mathes is an Emmy winning, Tony and Grammy nominated arranger/composer and music producer/director. He has produced recordings by Sting, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, Bettye LaVette, Beth Hart, Vanessa Williams, the band Panic At The Disco and others. He won the Emmy for his work on the Kennedy Center Honors, a program he musically directed for over a decade. He directed Obamas Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, A Journey In Faith, the concert for Pope Francis at Madison Square Garden, and PBSs Great Performances 40th Anniversary Special. Hes arranged and conducted music for artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Lou Reed, Beck, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton and Tony Bennett and also Classical artists like Yo Yo Ma, Luciano Pavarotti, Bryn Terfel and Renée Fleming. Hes written the soundtrack for two HBO documentaries, one about Thurgood Marshall starring Lawrence Fishburne and another about the Pulitzer Prize winning Herblock, both nominated for Best Original Score Emmys. Rob has written music for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Nashville Symphony, The National Symphony and The Royal Philhamonic. In 2014 he supervised and orchestrated Stings Broadway show The Last Ship.

Andrew Fortier
Andrews seven and a half minuets of fame to date is his song I say grace which was recorded by international artist Hayley Westernra selling over 3 million albums. Andrew has also had 2 major recording deals with warner brothers and chrysalis records as well as a major publishing deal with EMI. His other seven and a half minutes of fame is his latest and sixth album to date called {time machine } that has been on top ten reverb nation charts since its release and most meaningful to him is the chance to record and perform with his daughter Andie Juliette and son Cole Fortier, its all about family for Andrew and the music we make together.

Kevin Bents
Kevin Bents is a long-time friend of the Songwriters Circle. In his band, The Black Friday Stampede, he sings and plays electric guitar and piano. This past summer he co-produced the music for an MTV Unplugged show featuring German superstar Marius Mueller-Westernhagen. He is a 3-time Emmy winner, and as a musical sideman has performed with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Phoebe Snow, Jewel, and John Fogerty.

Nick Deutsch
Nick Deutsch is an award winning New York based piano playing indie pop Singer/Songwriter originally from Wilmette Illinois. He has shared the stage with established singer-songwriters Ian Axle (Great Big World) and Jillette Johnson as well as recorded with American Idols finalist Marissa Pontecorvo. Songs off his EPs Crazy Ride and HeartSaver have won awards for Best Pop Male Vocal (2013 IMEA Awards), The Great American Song (2013 POP Category) and featured interviews with Pop Vulture Magazine, Apple Inc. the Huffington Post and Buzzfeed. Nick was also the recipient of a 2011 Philadelphia Songwriters Project Award, a 2011 New York Songwriters Circle Award, a 2014 American Songwriters Award Nomination, a 2014 International Songwriters Contest award, 5 UK songwriting semi-finalist nominations a 2014 ISC award, an International Vocalist Runner Up Nomination, and his lyrics (Crazy Ride / Hooking Up have won nominations and been printed in the nationally published American Songwriter magazine (May 2014/ Sept 2017). His music has also been featured on the hit TV series Younger and Nickelodeons Jagger Eatons Mega Life.

John Schmitt
Called "one of New York City's best young storytellers," John Schmitt was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and his songs are a direct reflection of his experiences growing up there. His simple, honest approach tells stories that hit at the heart of American life. Blending a folk-meets-soul style, Paul Simon-meets-Motown, to go along with thoughtful lyrics and images, John sings about his life in real terms.

His album Ophelia from 2010 produced an internationally acclaimed song by the same title. With over 7.6 million streams worldwide, we see on Ophelia just how life in the city has affected Schmitt, now a resident of Brooklyn, as he takes us along for many stories of life, love, loss, and coffee consumption.
