Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit 2013
Are you over age 16 with a disability or the parent of a child with a disability and having a difficult time finding employment? The 3rd Annual Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit is designed to help job-seekers with disabilities navigate the road to employment.

This free event for job-seekers, funded through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, as part of a partnership with the Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, Shoreline Community College, and the Shoreline School District. Breakfast and lunch will be served. A vegetarian option will be available.

The "Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit" will offer opportunities to attend workshops on:

- Interview Preparation
- Supported Employment
- Accommodations in the Work Place
- Job Search on the Internet
- How to Navigate Work Source
- Keeping Your Job and Adjusting to Change
- Volunteer as a Pre-Employment Experience
- Is College Right for Me?
- Secrets to a Successful Interview
- How DVR Can Help You Get a Job
- Apprenticeship as a Path to Employment

The keynote speaker will be John Evans, an expert in the field of employment for persons with disabilities.

The Summit will be in the Pagoda Union Building (PUB) at Shoreline Community College, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N., Shoreline, WA 98133.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Special accommodations, including interpreters, are available on request.  Please place accommodation requests by August 16th, 2013 by calling 206-546-4545, or emailing ssd@shoreline.edu.  

Please fill out the questionnaire that appears after the registration process for any accommodations you might need.
