Where Keith Jarrett melded the realms of jazz and classical music into one, André Mehmari has gone a step further. By adding the rhythms of his native Brazil, he has created a language of tremendous expressive power. Both a keyboard virtuoso and a skilled composer, Mehmari roams from the tender and romantic to the hard-driving and dramatic, speaking clearly and profoundly in a luminous instrumental voice.
In short, he is a fluent jazz improvisor, an imaginative composer, a virtuoso pianist, a dynamic Brazilian, and someone who loves to make his piano sing, all wrapped into one.
On this intimate concert Andre Mehmari will perform at Maple Falls Town Hall, helping start in a high note a tradition of great music in the Mount Baker area.
