Play Synopsis
Set in the late 1980s, Anita DeSanto has just come home from a three-month-long trip to Europe, to New York and her large Italian family. (No one, except her brother Jesse, even understands why she went to begin with.) Before her trip, Anita, a 29-year-old Roman Catholic, divorced her cheating husband - she's always been told what was right and what was wrong by everyone in her life, so this was her revolt. Anita must now face her family, friends, and neighborhood when she returns early, with a new beau, the day before Christmas Eve. He's a charming, handsome New Yorker from a great family, he treats her like the princess she is, and he's Jewish. However, Anita is about to find that she's not the only family member with a secret. There's never a dull Christmas Eve in the DeSanto house, but this years will include divorce papers, the FBI, and some gefilte fish.
