The play depicts the late summer days when love and happiness briefly seems possible to the five Mundy sisters. However, as the summer ends, the family foresees the sadness they will suffer as all hopes fade. A masterpiece by Brian Friel set in Irelands County Donegal in August 1936 in the fictional town of Ballybeg.
