Bedlam Ensemble proudly presents "Walking The Dead" by Keith Curran; a hilarious and sometimes tragic account of a transgendered man's life in the 90's before and after transition.

The tale of Veronica / Homer is reconstructed by his African American shock art girlfriend who has assembled a feisty group of those closest to the deceased in an attempt to create a living installation memoriam.

Included in the mix is Homer's politically incorrect if not bigoted Joan Collin's worshiping mother, his stuttering gay bestie in tow with sardonic, alcoholic ex-boyfriend, a skeptical gender reassignment therapist in search of his big break and an overzealous documentary artist whose greatest work on gay sex titled "But Honey, I Looked Everywhere Else for My Ring" did not receive a standing "O."

Written in 1991 and first presented by the Circle Repertory Company in NYC that same year, "Walking The Dead" is an engaging work that sheds light on a controversial issue ahead of it's time. Perhaps even more relevant today than it was then, "Walking The Dead" addresses the joys, trials and challenges of one transgendered individual and how the decision to transition effects not only himself but those with
whom he shared his life.

Bitingly funny, alarmingly honest and brilliantly raw, "Walking The Dead" is unbiased in the questions it asks of the audience, beckoning them to take a thrilling, emotional ride through hot button topics and arrive at their own conclusions as to what to make of an all too human condition.

Director Russell Boyle has re-imagined this ground breaking script assembling a phenomenal cast, molding the powerfully fragile subject matter as presented by the characters with an abundant sense of humor and finesse.

A conceptual "trans-dramedy" that deconstructs self awareness versus spiritual mutilation in a theatrical experience you will not soon forget.
