Bath Fringe Spiegeltent presents: Sam Lee and Friends plus Effra
Redefining folk music for an ethnic eclectic future, Sam has been nominated for the big awards (Mercury, BBC, Songlines) and if he hasn't won one yet it can only be because the best is still yet to come. He knows the tradition from the inside, spent years collecting songs and stylings from Travelling People, and was very involved with the ground-breaking Nest Collective, who have done so much to rebuild young and collaborative music sessions in London, but despite all that his take on the music sounds like no-one else. And he's the only folksinger we can think of to have done a Vogue photo feature.
Effra are a high-energy high virtuosity trio in the Lau mould who won Bath Folk Festival's New Shoots competition last year.
