This is the first of a series of three retreats exploring the relevance of the Three Jewels to our everyday life in the 21st century. Practitioners may join these retreats on a one-off basis, but are encouraged to attend two or all three, if possible, to explore different aspects of the practice.
This in-depth retreat entitled 'Living Buddha runs from 5.00pm, Friday, 15th February,2019 to 4.30 pm on Sunday,17th and will allow us to explore ways in which we can bring being awake and realising the mind of understanding and compassion into our daily lives. The retreat is suitable for those with an established understanding of mindfulness and a regular practice and will include:
- Set texts to study beforehand (details to be distributed in due course);
- Set meditations to practice beforehand from Blooming of a Lotus;
- Opportunities to practice guided and silent meditations, sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating and noble silence;
- The opportunity to learn from others through dharma sharing and exploration; and
- Dharma talks from UK Dharma Teachers.
The retreat will be led by UK Dharma Teachers Dene Donalds and Leslie Collington at the Purley Chase retreat centre which offers comfortable accommodation and beautiful grounds in the North Warwickshire countryside.
The retreat is being organised by the Community of Interbeing. We are a growing network of people in the UK who practice mindfulness and aspire to develop peace and happiness in ourselves and in the world by living according to the teachings on global ethics of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. His teachings, which can be followed by people of all ages and any religion or none, are notable for their emphasis on joy, engagement in the world, and integrating the practice of mindfulness into daily life. We are a registered educational charity which offers a programme of courses, retreats and events and encourages and supports local groups that meet to practice mindfulness. We encourage anyone coming on our retreats to become a member of the Community of Interbeing by accessing the national website https://www.plumvillage.uk/support-us.
