STEAMING
STEAMING a play by Nell Dunn
Strathclyde Theatre Group's play for the Southside Fringe Directed by Julie Steen
Written in 1981, Nell Dunn's fearless account of the fight for our precious spaces still pack a punch today. Set in a dilapidated Turkish baths during startlingly similar economic circumstances six women come in out of the cold to seek a haven provided by the steam room and through time each other. Threatened with closure the soothing atmosphere of the baths quickly transforms into a hot spring of defiance. The girls are not going to take it lying down! Be a part of Strathclyde Theatre Group's debut performance at their new home at Govanhill. This is a play that will resonate closely with the wider public and will surely display strongly our willingness to be a valuable part of the Govanhill project. The group are delighted to take on a work that reflects the passions of their host and relish in the opportunity to stand with them and shout 'Save Our Baths!
