I Am Not Japanese

In her first one-woman show, I Am Not Japanese, Noriyko Tate charms the audience with a humorous and poignant account of her experiences growing up in a North Bronx housing project with brown skin, a Japanese name, a family of devout Jehovah's Witnesses, her two little sisters, neighbors who helped old-school style, and an epileptic mom obsessed with Asian culture. Noriyko brings several different characters to life on stage, telling their own pieces of the story. In this must-see debut, Noriyko shows the audience that there are no monsters in the closet and leaves them with hope and a smile.
