Vallejo Jazz Society Presents Paul Hanson
This concert will feature jazz bassoonist Paul Hanson, an extraordinary musician who is considered by many to be the best in the rarefied world of jazz bassoon. Imagine the gorgeous, mournful sound of the bassoon played with jaw-dropping virtuosity--this is the Paul Hanson experience. It's difficult to describe the beauty and emotional impact of Paul's music; he creates soulful cries interleaved with complex lines executed with blinding speed and rhythmic intensity.
Paul has traveled throughout Europe, Japan and the States. He has appeared as a bassoonist at Carnegie Hall, the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Berlin Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival and countless other venues. On May 19 he will be performing with his ensemble comprised of some of the Bay Area's finest musicians--guitarist Dave McNab, bassist Jeff Denson, and Jeff Marrs on drums.
