Touch Peace Benefit
Come connect with other dream makers! Touch Peace starts its public life at Fort Mason on June 19th with the Touch Peace Benefit to celebrate our growing community, help cover the costs of the program and raise money for future events around the Bay Area and the world. The evening includes live music and other excellent performers, live painting by Vadim Puyandaev, a gourmet dinner and raw delicacies, organic wine and fun interactive events for all (kids welcome and free)!
Touch Peace is a journey in discovering our experience of being with others. An opportunity to notice all we do, think, imagine to not be open, present, connected. And come back to being with ourselves, others, the universe.
Our first event on June 7th was inspiring, people came together, some as friends, same as total strangers, with different stories, ages and paths of life. We started with two hours of workshop with scores and games from different somatic approaches. In the safety of the structure we looked into each other eyes, touched each other bodies and shared our stories. At the end we performed, twice, for 5 minutes of stillness, all connected in a spiral, being with others.
First in the middle of Justin Herman Plaza. People walk by and stop, a gentleman from India approaches our camerawoman. He loves our mediation in connection, he thinks that is what we really need in the world. Next, in the middle of the crossroad between Embarcadero Plaza and Ferry Building, during the farmers market. It is a whirlpool of people and sound around us, and every and each one of us is focused, committed and present to the being with. Performing in a public space becomes a meditation on committing to connection. People stop, have questions, take pictures. We all, for some moments, Touch Peace.
Peggy Hackney, extraordinary mover, dancer, teacher, mentor and friend, one of June 7th Touch Peace facilitators, writes after Saturday:
My sense is that there is a revolution going on in terms of what we each know inside of ourselves contributes to "Peace". It is not "out there". Touching-in deeply with myself and others allows me to find that place of peace and be with others from a place of grounding.
If you want to contribute to the Touch Peace revolution, there is a fun, lush and engaging opportunity coming up this week. I hope you will join us and if you cannot, that you are inspired to extend the invitation to your friends, families and communities.
A call for volunteers!!!
If you love the arts, dance, contact improv, and support social change activism or if you just want to be able to attend a swanky evening full of delicious organic raw foods but can't afford the price of admission then don't miss this opportunity to get involved. You will be rewarded with a full belly, our enormous gratitude, and an unforgettable evening!
