Herbalism and Medical Astrology
We all know how the full moon can affect people, right? Besides the moon we have all these other planets and asteroids in our solar system as well as the Sun that have subtle and not so subtle energetic effects on our psyches and bodies. The ancients studied these relationships and created the systems of astrology; Western, Chinese, Druidic, and Ayurvedic to name a few. Well be studying Western Astrology. Western medical science before the current pharmaceutical industry used astrology to help in healing based both on an individuals chart and the astrological signs designated to different plants. The most well-known book on these is by Culpeper. Medical astrology is having a resurgence of interest because it relates to the individual constitution of an individual in a way that is more personal. Its of interest to herbalists in determining the optimal time to gather herbs. Those who want to be more in touch with the rhythms and cycles of Nature will also want to learn these associations.
This 3 hour class is a basic exploration of the subject of Herbalism and Medical Astrology. Participants will bring their birth chart to class and well explore your Sun sign, Moon sign and ascendant. Handouts will be provided with charts of body systems that relate to each sign and of herbs recommended for each sign. *This is an informational class, not meant to diagnose or treat any illness.
Bio:Diana Lynn Law is a Pacific NW herbalist and artist who loves learning about plants and Nature and teaching it to others. She loves tending growing things, creativity and Science. Her classes are a combination of Folk Herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and science-based study. Nature's remedies are the people's medicines. Empowering people to build their own relationships with plants and create their own well-being are integral parts of her classes. Nature is wholistic and so is her approach to teaching; incorporating remedies, creativity and exploration of traditional as well as science-based information; both have their merits.
