In His Court - Music from the time of the Sun King
The all-female ensemble SIREN Baroque will be joined by acclaimed Canadian violinist and conductor Marc Destrubé to inaugurate the "Sirens' Captives" series, for which the ensemble invites a male colleague as guest artist and director for each concert. "In His Court -- music from the time of the Sun King" explores the lavish aesthetic of 17th- and 18th-century France, with an expanded ensemble led by Mr. Destrubé bringing to life the wildly extravagant and festive music of the time, including dance suites, cantatas, opera music, and concertos by Jean- Baptiste Lully, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Jean-Marie Leclair. Cocktail reception to follow.
