CCSF FALL SHOW 2018 World Premiere
Tim Robbins Film Cradle Will Rock
Directed/adapted by Director and Professor Patricia Miller
From the stage to the screen and back again! World premier stage adaptation from Tim Robbins ground breaking 1999 film. About Patricia Miller director/adapter http://www.pollinatorarts.org Trailer of film : www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMmGSItJTJI CCSF Theatre Department is pleased to announce the first ever theatrical staging of Tim Robbin's 1999 film " Cradle Will Rock. This star studded Hollywood film is based on the true events of depression era USA and echoing the headlines of current day events. It is an epic story of love, politics and survival in cruel times. It is 1936, the enfant terrible Orson Wilson is staging a progressive musical (Marc Blitzsteins musical of the same name). Meanwhile Roosevelts New Deal and public art fights for its very existence and the show, the very act of making theatre is at risk. As reds are bated at home, violence spills onto the street and fascism grows abroad. Fat cat Nelson Rockefeller hires monumental artist Diego Rivera to paint "Man at the Crossroads", Vaudevillians cling to old routines, a rich Countess goes " slumming" and starving theatre artists get their voices heard over the din of poverty and strikes. Hilarious and poignant, CCSF is thrilled to stage this story under the shadow of Diego Rivera's mural in an interactive drama with music. Grab a picket sign or a cocktail and join us!
