"Within my Garden, rides a Bird..."
Last season, SLP performed two world premieres--including a commission--, a U.S. premiere, and five Boston premieres. In this first concert of our third season, we present two more Boston premieres, Nachtlied and Dreamgarden.
John Luther Adams' "Canticle of the Birds" explores bird song and Somei Satoh's haunting "Birds in Warped Time 2" likewise takes it's inspiration from our winged friends. John Cage's "Ryoanji" (based on and inspired by the famous Zen rock garden in Kyoto) will be performed by soprano, flute, oboe, and percussion. Sean Harold's "Nachtlied" is a beautiful deconstruction/reconstruction the music of J.S. Bach. The night concludes with Ian Wilson's surrealistically stunning "Dreamgarden".
