AFP Extra Session, October 2018
Learn the key elements of fired up direct mail and digital copy, and then put your new copywriting skills into practice as you start to improve your own campaigns right there in this workshop.
During this interactive 45-minute session, participants will vote on what they think are past winning direct mail and digital campaigns. Well discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a number of real life examples, review the difference between marketing and fundraising language, and finally attendees will work on firing up their own campaigns.
Attendees are asked to bring current or prior examples of their own direct mail campaigns for personal evaluation.
Debbie Merlino is President, Agency Services at Allegiance Fundraising Group (formerly DMW Fundraising).
She has more than 30 years of experience in both fundraising and direct response marketing on the business-to-consumer side.
Her work with nonprofit organizations includes the successful management of membership and donor programs in the public media, healthcare, advocacy and environmental space.
Debbies worked as a copywriter as well as a fundraising strategist. She believes in the power of storytelling to connect donors with the causes they care about. Outside the office she uses storytelling to entertain. For 1 years she had a morning humor column Fabat40 on a regional, independent radio station, WATD; shes performed Stand Up at ImprovBoston; and has been a cast member of Mortified.
As President of Agency Services at Allegiance Fundraising, one of Debbies roles is to ensure that the agency's winning strategies are being shared throughout the organization for the benefit of all clients. In her workshop shell share those winning strategies with you!
