Bad Dad (Calgary, AB)
Bad Dad is a 5-star reviewed one-man show, written and performed by award-winning actor, comedian and bad dad, Chris Dingli.

After successful runs in London, Birmingham, Malta and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Brighton Fringe Festivals, Bad Dad is now on its first North American tour!

Bad Dad is a semi-autobiographical show that chronicles the trials and tribulations of becoming a first-time father. It is a gloriously funny, brutally honest account of Dingli's experience as a father so far.

The show has been an audience and critical hit in every location. As one 5 star review put it, If you never wanted a child, go see this show. If you always wanted a child, go see this show. If you couldnt care less about children, go see this show  you will still walk out entertained!

Described in another review as one of the most side-splittingly funny and entertaining performances I have seen in a long time, this show received rave reviews in London when The Reviews Hub proclaimed that even an anecdote about his daughters vomit becomes both chucklesome and charming in equal measure.

Now how can you resist that?

Chris is an actor, comedian and writer who is much sought-after in his native Malta. His shows regularly sell out, with his annual Christmas show breaking box office records year after year.

After training at Webber Douglas Academy for dramatic arts in London, Chris spent a decade touring the UK before returning to Malta where he hosts a daily lunch time radio show on XFM.

He has written or co-written as well as performed in a large number of comedy shows, and served as co-showrunner of the comedy series Comedy Knights TV Shorts.

Chris has played lead roles in London theatres as well as across the UK and in Europe, whilst working on film and TV with some of the worlds most recognisable names including Michael Bay, Rachel Weisz, Alejandro AmenĂ¡bar, John Krasinsky and Linda Gray.

His recent credits include Michael Bays 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Doctors on BBC 1, and I Was a Rat! with Birmingham Rep.

In 2016, he completed a stand-up comedy residency at Hard Rock Cafe in Valletta and his headlining One Night Comedy Special stand-up special sold out in under 48 hours.

"Refreshing... perfectly balanced anecdotes... touching moments...Dingli is a master of the stage" London Pub Theatre Reviews (5 Stars)

"From the slapstick physical beginning of this self-penned one-man monologue, through to the shows philosophical conclusion, the laughs come thick and fast in Bad Dad." Broadway Baby (5 Stars)

"Delightful... the jokes come thick and fast... elicits laughter from unspectacular moments that are part of the fabric of parenting and yet wouldnt necessarily lend themselves to comedy...even an anecdote about his daughters vomit becomes both chucklesome and charming in equal measure... Bad Dad was so good that one hopes Chris Dingli delivers a sequel very soon." The Reviews Hub (4.5 Stars)

"A solid hour of detailed, visual storytelling of short anecdotes is filled with highly efficient jokes." Voicemag UK (4 Stars)

"Hilariously memorable... had everyone in stitches from the word go... it has been a while since I laughed so much during a theatre performance." Sunday Times, Malta

"Many of the biggest laughs come from the amusing turns of phrase perfectly reflecting Dinglis naivety and bewilderment... The Waltham Cat and I - both lurking around 30, both definitely child-free - found more than enough to laugh at all the way through. This isnt just a show for new parents... the shows poignant final scenes chokes you up whether you can directly relate as a parent or not" Walthamcat (blog)
