Born in Cuba, García is a former Miami Bureau Chief and TIME Magazine researcher and reporter who has transitioned to fiction as a way to share her stories. In addition to her seven novels, García has edited two anthologies of Cuban and Mexican literature, respectively, and published two children's books and a collection of poetry.
