The Uncivil Ones - A Benefit for Emerging Artists Theatre
Book and Lyrics: Christian Duhamel
Additional Book: Charissa Bertels
Music: Ayumi Okada
Original Concept: Charissa Bertels and Christian Duhamel
During the American Civil War, one of the nation's first female surgeons, Doctor Mary Walker, defies gender norms and heads to the front lines to help the wounded. There she crosses paths with Jennie, a young woman posing as a male Confederate soldier, and Lizzie, a freed black slave acting as a Union spy. When Mary is captured by the Confederacy and imprisoned at Castle Thunder, she must rely on these women -- each with very different ideas about freedom and womanhood -- to help her survive.

Emerging Artists returns with their one-of-a-kind festival. Visit the theater any evening during this three-week event, and you'll find yourself transported in a number of surprising ways: by a single performer embodying a whole host of characters; by a more experimental theater piece "done differently" that challenges and delights; by a cozy two-person show exploring relationships; or perhaps by a bouncy new musical that will have you humming. Emerging Artists has always been about new works, new talents, new voices. That's never been more evident than now.
NO REFUNDS will be granted.
