Seattle Public Library Booktoberfest: Readers Speakeasy at Smith Tower
Find out what happens when a bunch of readers get together for drinks in Seattles most spectacular watering hole.

We know its tempting to curl up and read at home, but we think that you should venture out and join us this October 15 from 5-8 p.m. for a bookish cocktail hour at the Smith Tower Observatory bar overlooking Seattle and Puget Sound. Grab a beer or a cocktail and mingle with other book lovers, or just gaze at one of Seattles most inspiring views. Share what youre currently reading and your favorite (or least favorite) books and authors. Bring a book, bring a friend, and don't forget your photo ID.

This event is 21 and over, and drinks are on you. Admittance is free, but registration via Brown Paper Tickets is required. For this night only, Smith Tower is waiving the usual ticket price for access to the Observatory and speakeasy-style bar. Bring your library card or know your library card number for the chance to win prizes. This event runs from 5-8 p.m., so feel free to drop by anytime!

Located in the Observatory on the 35th floor of Seattles original Skyscraper, this prohibition era inspired bar overlooks the Puget Sound and Seattle region. It features an intriguing menu and craft cocktails that pay homage to Smith Towers rum-running roots and Chinese Room history.

This program is a part of Booktoberfest, Seattle Public Library's annual celebration of books, beer and good cheer taking place in bars and pubs across the Seattle. Join us for bookish happy hours, librarian-hosted trivia nights, spooky stories in bars and libraries, a Northwest literary survival kit, Karaoke, vampire movies and more!

Be on the lookout for our Booktoberfest Drink Coasters at all events, and at bars all across the city. This years coasters include a place to share what youve been reading with your fellow barmates, and via social media.
