Come join us as masters of sonic sense and surrender New Yorks own Edwin Torres and Havana-native Omar Pérez sync their respective wavelengths into drums, sound tracts and silence to find the words to say I love you. Translator Kristin Dykstra joins Pérez from Vermont. Expect your head to thunder song.

Edwin Torres books of poetry include XoeteoX: the infinite word object (Wave Books), Ameriscopia (University of Arizona Press), Yes Thing No Thing (Roof Books), and editor of the forthcoming The Body In Language: An Anthology (Counterpath Press). His work is included in the anthologies: American Poets in the 21st Century (Vol. 4): Global Poetics, Who Will Speak For America, and Angels of the Americlypse: New Latin@ Writing. Omar Pérezs works include, among others: Cubanology (Station Hill Press); Algo de lo sagrado (released in a bilingual edition from Factory School as Something of the Sacred); Did You Hear About the Fighting Cat? (Oíste hablar del gato de pelea?), published by Shearsman Book; and Crítica de la razón puta (Critique of Fuckup Reason), winner of Cubas 2010 Nicolás Guillén Prize for Poetry. In 2014 he was a Fellow with the University of Iowas International Writing Program, and he has presented his work in many countries around the world. Kristin Dykstra is the translator of many book-length collections of Latin American literature, including a set of bilingual editions published by the University of Alabama Press, featuring Cuban authors Reina María Rodríguez, Juan Carlos Flores, Angel Escobar, and Marcelo Morales. In 2018 Dykstra guest-edited a dossier dedicated to Flores (1962-2016) in The Chicago Review and co-edited Materia Prima, an anthology showcasing poetry by Amanda Berenguer (Uruguay) for Ugly Duckling Press.
