Enclosed gardens, rich with symbolism, allegory, and complex meanings across many cultures, are depicted in visual and literary arts throughout the ages. This program will explore musical settings of poetic texts containing floral and garden imagery, including extant music from the 12th century manuscript Hortus Deliciarum.
In Mulieribus (the Latin phrase meaning "amongst women") is a female vocal ensemble dedicated to the promotion and enrichment of community through the art of music with a focus on works written primarily before 1750.
Please note: there are two performances of this concert- one in Portland, Oregon and one in Vancouver Washington. This is the Vancouver performance!
