SROs Vortex will present Forget me Not
Forget me Not is a contemporary dance show with original music composed by local musician James Glasgow. This theatrical dance performance will focus on Alzheimers, memory loss and the families that love those living with the disease. Through the art of dance, we will honor those working through the effects of the illness and give the audience a glimpse inside the world they live in.
Vortex is a theatrical dance company that brings the discipline of dance and theater together to present timely and heartfelt performances that address the human experience. Featuring the work of many local choreographers, dancers and performers, the goal is to provide unique entertainment that is both enriching and educational.
Each year we choose a charitable organization in our area that through their programs and assistance help better our community. Our shows highlight what these organizations do and help them become more visible.
This year Vortex is working in conjunction with The Memory Maker Project. Created in 2014 by Christina Muscotello, an art educator with more than a decade of experience working with people who have Alzheimers, and Kim Evanesk, a dementia certified social worker. The arts act as a back-door entry to memories and can inspire new ones. They started The Memory Maker project to open those doors and make art and cultural programs accessible to people living with memory loss.
Forget Me Not will not only provide education and awareness but create performance opportunities for trained dancers in our area, and bring a quality show to the patrons. It allows these performers to use their talents to give back to the community by helping these charitable organizations to continue their mission.
