ALABAMA MINORITY CHOREOGRAPHERS FESTIVAL (AMCF)
Dance has always remained an enjoyable event in the Montgomery community, and the Alabama Minority Choreographers Festival (AMCF) created by James R. Atkinson, Jr, Associate Professor of Dance at the Alabama State University, is beyond thrilled to present its inaugural festival on the date list above. The collaborative evening of dance will provide selected Alabama-based professional and semi-professional choreographers from around the state with a platform to present their choreography. Featuring Lindsay Benton, Jaylen Clay, Jordan Cowan, Kavin Grant, Cory-Nicole Hinton, Lawrence M. Jackson, Angelene Clarissa Kendall, Jamarious Stewart, Jarvis Williams AMFC will also showcase choreographic talents of three guest companies, the Dance Theatre of Huntsville, Huntsville Alabama, Arova Contemporary Ballet and the J. Lockhart Performing Arts Institute, Birmingham, Alabama. AMCF creates an environment of cultivation, exploration, and diversity in dance.
AMCF 's long-term impact is to provide minority choreographers in Alabama with a place to present their fresh choreographic ideas that reach far beyond the core of the work or school settings. Also, it will offer another performance opportunity to the Montgomery dance community.
Don't miss this exciting and moving diverse performance experience of dance through the lens of the finest Black/African American professional creators in the state of Alabama. I would like to acknowledge that this exciting opportunity for this program has been made possible by grant funding from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
