Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin, and Giovanni Rigano at Boswell for "Illegal"
Presenting a special evening with Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin, and Giovanni Rigano, presenting Illegal, a powerful graphic novel that explores the true tales of migrants and asylum seekers. This event is cohosted by Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
The team that created Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel has created a powerful story that is based on true stories. In Illegal, Ebo is a 12-year-old boy who hopes to get from Ghana to Europe, but, along with his brother Kwame and friend Razak, must suffer trials and tribulations - overcrowded trucks and boats, unscrupulous dealers, thieves, hunger, thirst, disease, weather - before he can be reunited with his family. The story is told in alternating chapters of land and water, as Ebo attempts to cross the Saharan desert and the Mediterranean Sea.

This event is cosponsored by Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, which provides comprehensive resettlement services to refugees fleeing from war and persecution around the globe since 1974. For this event, we'll be collecting items most in need for newly arrived refugees - bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
The authors and illustrator will sign Illegal after their presentation. And yes, you can bring books in the Artemis Fowl series to be signed.
