Affinities: Margaret Bonds and Langston Hughes
Recently unearthed musical settings by Margaret Bonds, an under-represented woman composer of the Harlem Renaissance, of poetry by her friend Langston Hughes, are performed live by vocalists from Harlem Opera Theatre. Ashley Jackson, recipient of the prestigious Presser Award offers an enlightening talk. The evening begins with a tour of the Studio Museum's current exhibitions and ends with a reception with the artists.
