Curious about computer programming but not sure what the difference is between Python, Java, and C++?
Interested in data science?
Wondering whether you should take any computer-related electives?
Join our two-day workshop and have fun with Python! Taught by Robyn Allen, an energetic MIT alum who has founded two software startups, this course will be entertaining and educational.
This is an 8-hour workshop for high school students interested in learning about why Python is such a powerful computer programming language. Our goal is to provide hands-on project-based learning (we have three detailed lab problems) to empower students who are pondering whether computer science would be useful to them in their chosen careers. This workshop will students understand 1) what makes Python unique and 2) how even a small amount of programming knowledge can be useful in a variety of disciplines.
We will focus on three skill areas:
lists loops functions
and will work to help students gain an appreciation for which types of professions use Python. Many people in the modern economy use Python, from data scientists and biologists to sports and finance analysts.
No experience necessary. Two information sessions (free, no commitment required) will be held. Students and families are invited to attend the information session, meet the instructor, and ask questions.
The info session is free but an RSVP is required to events@team-ci.com because space is limited.
