Lay Me Down Softly
In this corner...all fighters are welcome in the boxing ring that is the main attraction of Delaney's Traveling Roadshow, a carnival touring rural Ireland in 1962. In this bittersweet play the characters spar and jab, seeking purpose and meaning in a dangerous world. Billy Roche populates the center tent with a ringmaster, sidekick, lovers, and fighters all trying to find some sort of equilibrium only for it to be rocked by the appearance of the ringmaster's long-lost daughter.
