Woke 2.0 : An Arts & Social Justice Problem Solving Lab So youve read the books, had the conversations, you consider yourself to be a bit woke or at least youre trying to be. And then it happens, the moment when you can intervene, when you want to hire a d/Deaf performer, you want to be inclusive and you dont have all the skills or tools you need. Lets acknowledge that no one person has the answers, but maybe together we can all learn to do better. Lets move past the knowledge phase into action.
Lets learn how to be brave together and deepen our practises to become truly inclusive, affirmative and joyful. Join Generator, The Storefront Theatre, Artscape Youngplace, and other partners as we explore and crowdsource ideas for a better and more inclusive live performance industry with practical ideas for the indie artist.
Edition #2 D/deaf Jam Friday June 22, 2018 12 PM - 3 PM 388 Queen St E unit 3 Registration limited to 20 people Register Here - $20 - if this fee is a barrier or you want to pay with cash or cheque please email info@generatorto.com.
Calling D/deaf interpreters and artists, hearing artists, interpreters and producers, lets have a very important conversation. We all want to work together, but there are some very real barriers of time and money preventing us from bridging the gaps between our worlds. How much to charge for ASL interpretation in the Theatre world? What costs are associated with providing accessible and top-notch quality interpretation? Where to seek for funding? How to pay interpreters ethically? This workshop is for you to participate if you are an artist, organizer, interpreter, or Deaf Interpreter. This workshop will be facilitated by Sage Lovell (Artist, Facilitator and co-founder of Deaf Spectrum) and Sedina Fiati (Artist & Managing Producer of The Storefront Theatre).
